PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Wells Fargo donated $1,000 each to 92 elementary schools in Oregon and SW Washington during an event at the Memorial Coliseum.
The donations went to schools in several Oregon communities, including Portland, Gresham, Odell, Canby, Milwaukie, Molalla, Hillsboro, Astoria, Salem, Seaside, Dallas, Keizer, Mount Angel, Silverton, Stayton, Tigard, Tualatin and Newberg. In Washington, schools in Vancouver and Washougal received funds as well.
Most of the schools selected by Wells Fargo are Title 1 schools, which means they have a high number or percentage of students from low-income families.
The principal of each school will decide how to use the unrestricted funds.
In a press release, Wells Fargo described the donations as "part of its ongoing support of public education."
