Wife of Whitney Heichel murder suspect files for divorce

GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

The woman married to accused murderer Jonathan Holt has filed for divorce.

The paperwork was filed in Multnomah County on Oct. 26, according to courthouse workers. No court dates are set at this point.

Holt is facing charges including aggravated murder for the death of Whitney Heichel, 21, of Gresham. She disappeared on Oct. 16 and court documents show Holt admitted to police he had asked her for a ride, pulled a gun on her and eventually killed her.

Holt was arrested Oct. 19, the same day Heichel's body was found on Larch Mountain. He pleaded not guilty in court Oct. 26, the same day his wife filed for divorce.

Holt remains behind bars without bail. His trial is set for Dec. 14.
