BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

A 15-year-old girl was hit by a slow-moving school bus in Battle Ground on Tuesday morning.

It happened as the girl, a sophomore at Battle Ground High School, was crossing Northwest Onsdorff Boulevard at Eighth Avenue at 7:30 a.m.

Battle Ground Public Schools said it was a mini bus involved in the collision and it happened while it was still dark outside. The girl was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and was treated and released.

The bus driver and one student onboard the bus were not hurt.

Washington State Patrol and the Battle Ground Police Department are investigating. Cascade Student Transportation, the school district's contracted bus-service provider, is conducting its own internal investigation.
