Cash reward offered for car prowler's arrest

Posted: Updated:
VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Dozens of people in the Vancouver area have been the targets of car break-ins and police say there's a good chance one man may be behind them all.

Vancouver police say car break-ins have increased 137 percent just in the last month. They think this particular suspect is just part of the problem, but more than that, they say he is dangerous.

Crimestoppers is now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Police say the suspect has swiped countless credit cards and debit cards from inside of victim's cars, and in one case even a fire arm.

Most recently, police were doing surveillance on the suspect's white ford fusion at an apartment complex on 147th Place.

Police say at one point two men got into the car, so police confronted them. The driver punched the gas, drove over an embankment and then crashed into a police car, narrowly missing both of the officers.

Since that day, police say the car prowlings have continued in Vancouver, and they have strong reason to believe the suspect captured in several surveillance photos is behind a good portion of them.

The suspect's white Ford Fusion was found abandoned in Camas over the weekend, but the suspect is still at large.

Crimestoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Call the Vancouver Police Department if you recognize the man in these photos.
