Police have arrested a man accused of slamming into a woman in northeast Portland and driving off.

Willie Hurst, 24, is facing charges including assault, reckless driving and reckless endangering.

Police said he hit Charlotte Claudel, a 20-year-old French foreign exchange student, at Northeast 60th and Glisan on Oct. 15. The victim has been released from the hospital and is continuing to recover from her injuries.

Witnesses described the suspect's truck to police who then found it parked and abandoned in a nearby neighborhood.
