PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police say a man riding a bicycle firebombed a police car early Monday morning.

According to police, at about 1:30 a.m., officers coming back from their shift spotted a man on a bike throw a burning Molotov cocktail at a marked cruiser.

The car was parked in the southeast corner of a parking lot across the street from police north precinct in the 400 block of northeast Emerson Street.

No officers were inside the car; no one was hurt. Police say there was no damage to the police cruiser.

Officers almost immediately caught the man they say threw the bottle and detained him.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Sergey Yefimobich Turzhanskiy of southeast Portland.

Turzhanskiy was booked on charges of attempted arson, possession of a destructive device, attempt to elude, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration.

Turzhanskiy is scheduled to hear his charges tomorrow in Multnomah County Court.
