PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police said they arrested a robbery suspect in a stolen car Sunday afternoon in Northeast Portland.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at JB Market on Southeast Division Street near 37th around 12:15 p.m.

The victim told police the robber implied that he had a gun and demanded money.

Witnesses gave officers a license plate number of the SUV the suspect was driving.

Police responded to a second report of an armed robbery at the Belmont Bodega on Southeast Belmont Street near 25th at around 1:45 p.m.

A victim at the Belmont Bodega also told police that the suspect implied that he had a gun as he demanded money.

Police said a sergeant spotted the stolen SUV associated with the robberies a few minutes later at Northeast 47th and Glisan Street.

That officer performed a high-risk stop of the SUV, police said.

Police said they were able to arrest Chad Phillips, 40, and book him into the Multnomah County jail without incident.

Phillips faces charges of second degree robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
