SALEM, OR (KPTV) -
The former owner of a Salem store is accused of burning it down in 2008.
Birkamal Singh, 31, of San Jose, CA was arrested Friday by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on a federal indictment for arson.
Investigators said a fire destroyed the EZ Market, 3185 River Road North in Salem on Oct. 17, 2008. The indictment alleges the fire caused personal injury to another person, listed only as "S.M."
Investigators did not specify the relationship between the victim and the suspect. Singh was the owner and operator of the business and lived in Salem at the time of the fire.
Singh is due back in a San Jose courtroom Nov. 7. Federal prosecutors will seek his return to Oregon to face trial.
