Measles ruled out at Woodland school

WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

School administrators in Woodland thought they were dealing with a probable case of the measles, but that turned out not to be the case.

The district sent out a notice Thursday letting parents know about a "probable" case of measles reported at Woodland Primary School.

Superintendent Michael Green said children whose measles immunizations were not up to date needed to stay home from school.

In all, 44 children at the school did not have the vaccine and another 11 only had one shot in the series of measles vaccinations.

On Friday, the district updated the situation saying there was no case of the measles after all. The Cowlitz County Health Department ruled it out in this case.

There is no word on what the medical condition was that led to the scare.
