Voters pass $482 million bond measure for Portland schools

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland voters have approved a massive construction plan for local schools.

Fox 12 political analyst Tim Hibbitts said the $482 million bond measure will pass.

"It's going to pass by a very solid margin," Hibbitts said. "This is a measure for a reduced amount of money (from the previous election) ... asking for less may have helped them."

The bond is set to pay to remodel four schools and upgrade many others for earthquake safety and accessibility.

If you own a home valued at about $250,000, the bond measure would cost you about $275 more per year.
