PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland's outgoing mayor met with the incoming mayor Wednesday at City Hall.
Portland Mayor Sam Adams sent out a photo of his meeting with Charlie Hales. Adams also offered his congratulations to Hales, who defeated Jefferson Smith Tuesday in the race to become Portland's next mayor.
Adams said he wants to ensure a smooth transition for Hales into office.
There are 55 days left in Adams' term as mayor.
Hales, 56, spent 10 years as a Portland city commissioner until 2002. He launched a political comeback when Adams decided not to seek a second term.
