Keizer police arrested a man they believe burglarized several homes and cars using modified keys.

On Nov. 2, an officer noticed a suspicious driver on the 5300 block of Windsor Island Road North and ran a check on the license plate. The car was recently reported stolen from Salem and the officer went to approach the driver, who was parked in a driveway.

The officer then arrested Everett Newton. An investigation revealed he had committed numerous thefts and had meth and burglar tools. This included two key rings with more than 100 house and vehicle keys, some of which were reportedly modified.

Police have been able to identify and return some of the stolen items. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges against Newton are possible.
