Albany police seek help finding dangerous knife assault suspect

Albany police are seeking the public's help locating a suspect in a knife assault.

It happened Wednesday, Nov. 7 at about 3:25 p.m. Police responded to the 2100 block of Northeast Front avenue in Albany on a report of a person injured in a fight involving a knife.

At the scene, officers found 56-year-old Gary Turvey suffering from a knife-related injury. He was taken to a hospital for surgery, and is now being treated in the intensive care unit.

Investigators said 42-year-old Jade Dean Berry is the suspect in the assault, but fled the scene. Albany police detectives found Berry's car and evidence linking him to the assault several hours later.

There is now a temporary felony warrant for Berry's arrest. Albany police say is to be considered armed and dangerous.
