A domestic violence dispute that police said had been brewing all day long culminated in an assault, a stabbing and a shooting late Thursday night in Hillsboro.
Officers told FOX 12 that it all started at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when officers responded to a domestic violence call at the Sedona Park Apartments along Northeast Barberry Drive.
A man, whose name has not been released, punched his girlfriend in the face inside an upstairs apartment that they share, police said.
Hearing the commotion next door, a neighbor came over to help the woman, but the suspect stabbed him with a folding knife, police said.
Officers responded to the scene and confronted the suspect. Two officers ordered him to drop the knife from his hand, but he refused, police said. One officer used a stun gun on the suspect, but that did not stop him, they added.
Officers ordered the man to drop his knife again, police said, but the man then advanced toward the officers. One of the officers fired two shots from his gun, hitting the suspect, police said.
Medics took the suspect to a hospital where he underwent surgery, police said. He is expected to be OK.
The neighbor who was stabbed has already been released from the hospital, police said.
The suspect's girlfriend was also hospitalized for injuries she suffered to her face, but she is expected to be OK, police said.
The officers were not hurt.
