A Bend man is guilty of murdering his son.
The Deschutes County District Attorney's Office said a jury found James Hargrave, 62, guilty Friday of murder in the death of his son Steven Hargrave, 28.
James Hargrave was arrested in December 2011 and accused of shooting and killing his son. The defense had said he was a frail man who had suffered a stroke and was partially paralyzed and fired in self-defense in a confrontation with his drunken son.
Prosecutors said he carried out the shooting intentionally.
Under Oregon law, the mandatory sentence for murder is life in prison with a 25-year mandatory minimum. James Hargrave's sentencing is set for Nov. 16.
