Kindergarten teacher gets new guitar after theft

OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -

Students at an Oregon City school helped a kindergarten teacher get a new guitar after a thief made off with his old one.

The theft happened at a fundraiser in Oregon City in late October.

Dan Gilmore said he was worried he wasn't going to be able to play for his students anymore after someone took the $600 instrument.

His guitar still hasn't been found, but students and parents at Gaffney Lane Elementary, along with community members, started gathering money for a new guitar about two weeks ago after FOX 12 shared Gilmore's story.

Gilmore said he was humbled by some of the students' actions.

They helped raise enough money that Gilmore is actually able to afford an even better guitar than the one that was stolen.
