Drugs, alcohol blamed for Clark County crash

Posted: Updated:

A driver is charged with vehicular assault for a crash that put his passenger in the hospital.

Deputies said it happened at 10:30 p.m. Monday on the 2900 block of Northeast Lockwood Creek Road just east of La Center.

Emergency crews arrived and found a 1985 Ford truck on its side in the middle of the road. The driver was trapped inside and the passenger had been thrown out during the crash.

Both were taken in an ambulance to Peace Health Southwest Washington Medical Center.

Investigators said the truck appears to have veered off the roadway and the driver overcorrected, causing it to spin and roll.

Deputies believe impairment involving drugs, alcohol or both were contributing factors in the crash.

The driver, James Hall, 28, of Battle Ground, was treated and released from the hospital. He was booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of vehicular assault.

The passenger, Charles Reed, 28, of La Center, remains in the hospital with serious injuries.
