Former school volunteer guilty of child sex abuse

SANDY, OR (KPTV) -

A former Sandy elementary school volunteer has pleaded guilty to child sex abuse.

Kenneth Cartlidge pleaded guilty on Friday to charges including sex abuse, rape and using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.

Cartlidge was arrested in September 2011. Police said the victim was a child from the Oregon Trail School District in Sandy and the abuse happened on a weekend, not during school hours.

Investigators said he volunteered in that district, primarily at Firwood Elementary School, for two years.

He is set to be sentenced on Jan. 28, 2013.
