Thieves robbed them of their uniforms and now possibly from a future season.
The Forest Grove Running club is scrambling to figure out what to do after someone broke into a coaches' car and stole dozens of uniforms worth thousands of dollars.
"If we don't have uniforms it's harder to compete, and we won't feel like a team," said teammate Garrett Stewart.
Coach Sue Fleskes said she went to the Blazer's game last week and parked her car on a side street.
When she got back to her car at the end of the night, she realized thieves picked the lock and took off with the uniforms.
"I was literally and physically nauseated," said Fleskes. "I feel absolutely sick and devastated. I get angry, and then just sad."
Thirty-one sets of jackets, shorts and shirts were stolen. The uniforms were individually packaged and stuffed into duffle bags.
Fleskes said thieves also stole her camera, with official track meet photos on it.
Fleskes said she wouldn't normally have the uniforms in her car, but she brought them to practice that day to hand out to kids who wanted to run through the extended season.
"I would like to think they've realized they've taken uniforms from young children, and I hope that they would have the feeling of regret and want to give them back," said Assistant Coach Elena Torry-Schrag.
The club is for students in grades five through eight and gives them a place to run until they reach high school.
The club is free to join and funded through a grant, but Fleskes said this $3,600 hit to the team may mean the club will have to start charging next year.
"We certainly don't want to have to exclude anyone, but $100 for a new uniform is cost-prohibitive for most families right now," said Fleskes.
The team said they just want their uniforms back, no questions asked.
If you want to help the team they've set up an account at the Bank of the West under their club name.
