Some famous athletes teamed up to share their stories of managing diabetes while living an active lifestyle.
Two time Super Bowl champion, Kendall Simmons and former Portland Trailblazer, Chris Dudley, hosted the "Get in the Game" workshop at OHSU Wednesday night. This also marked World Diabetes Day.
Dudley also held a basketball clinic for kids living with diabetes at the Rose Garden over the weekend. He hopes these outreach events will inspire people to keep a positive attitude and not let diabetes stop them from achieving their dreams.
Nearly 26 million American children are living with diabetes right now. That includes more than 340,000 in Oregon and Southwest Washington. If this current trend continues, one out of every three children will face a future with diabetes.
