Posted: Updated:

Oregon State Police said a driver suffered injuries after crashing into a loaded school bus Wednesday afternoon on Highway 361 south of Madras.

The crash did not hurt any of the students or the bus driver.

Troopers said the Jefferson County School District bus with over 40 kindergarten through fifth grade students were on the bus when the crashed happened.

The bus stopped at around 3:45 p.m. on Highway 361 near milepost 3 to let students off.

Two cars stopped behind the bus.

Troopers said a woman, 62, driving a Prius failed to stop, swerved toward the highway shoulder, continued to pass the stopped cars and hit the right rear of the bus.

Crews took the woman to Mountain View Hospital in Madras.

Troopers had not released her name as of Thursday morning, however, she is expected to recover.

A decision on possible charges is pending a completion of the investigation and interviews, according to state police.

The school district sent another bus to take the students to their destination.
