Astoria man accused of counterfeiting money

Posted: Updated:

Clatsop County Investigators worked with Parole and Probation, Astoria Police and a Secret Service agent to arrest a man suspected of making counterfeit money.

The investigators received information that Mitchell Nichols was counterfeiting US currency and creating false IDs.

The officers served a search warrant at an apartment in Astoria and say they discovered the information they received was true.

Nichols was already on post-prison supervision for forgery.

Officers arrested him on numerous charges, including the use of illegal drugs and possessing narcotics paraphernalia.

They say he also faces new local and federal charges.

Investigators ask anyone who may have more information regarding Mitchell Nichols or the alleged crimes to call the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office at 503-325-8653.
