A local eighth-grader is facing felony charges and has been expelled from school after deputies said he cut a classmate with a box cutter.
Benton County deputies said the 13-year-old boy at Santiam Christian School near Corvallis attacked the other student at the school Wednesday.
Investigators said the victim is also 13 years old.
The two students began arguing at 3:30 p.m., according to deputies, and the suspect pulled out the box cutter and used it as a weapon.
Deputies said he was cited for menacing and assault, both felony charges. The boy was released to a guardian.
The victim suffered a superficial kind of wound to his arm, deputies said, and was treated and released from the hospital.
