Police seek more information in apartment burglary

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Authorities have arrested a Salem man accused of trying to break into an apartment complex Friday. And they don't believe this was the first time.

Richard Velasquez faces attempted burglary charges.

A woman living at the Sandalwood Apartments told deputies she found Velasquez climbing through the front window of her unit Friday morning. He took off after the victim spotted him, deputies said.

Authorities later found Velasquez hiding in some nearby bushes and arrested him, they said. Velasquez is a suspect in several other burglaries, and could face additional charges.

Deputies are asking anyone who lives in the 3800 block of Etta Drive, and feels they may have been a victim of Velasquez to contact Sr. Deputy Skip Lumley at slumley@co.marion.or.us
