On Monday at 8:41 p.m., Portland police officers spotted a man jaywalking in the area of Southwest 12th Avenue and Columbia Street.
They got out to talk to him, but he ran away. Officers caught up with him at Southwest Park Avenue and Main Street.
An officer was in the process of arresting him when a cover officer arrived to help out. He got out of the car, but left the car in gear. It began to move forward and ran over the suspect who was lying on the ground.
A third officer ran and jumped into the moving car and stopped it.
Police say they called for medical help right way.
Officers say the suspect had a warrant for his arrest.
The Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division is investigating.
