Inmate escapes Jackson County Jail

Posted: Updated:

An inmate is on the loose in southern Oregon after escaping from the Jackson County Jail in Medford.

Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office say Bradley William Monical, 42, escaped through the recreation yard on top the upper level of the jail.

Monical is a convicted bank robber who was arrested for robbing a Sterling Savings Bank in Coos Bay in 2011.  He was later indicted on another armed robbery in Ashland, where he was accused of entering a PremierWest Bank with a gun and stealing money from the teller stations.

Monical was in state custody, but was transported to Jackson County to face the additional charges. It was around 10 p.m. Monday night that he escaped the Jackson County Jail.

Deputies and K-9 units are searching the area and say Monical is a threat to the community.  Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately.

His mug shot is from 2011. Investigators said he no longer has facial hair. The top of his head is bald with very short brown hair on the sides.
