Oregon State Police (OSP) and Wheeler County Sheriff's deputies have captured a fugitive wanted on the East Coast.

A detective with the Cortland County Sheriff's Department in New York contacted an OSP trooper and told him that Harley Smith, 28, was staying at a ranch near Twickenham in Wheeler County.

Smith was wanted on warrants out of New York for burglary and grand larceny.

He was also wanted on misdemeanor warrants out of three Oregon counties.

OSP arrested Smith at the ranch, located along the John Day river near Fossil in central Oregon, on Sunday without incident.

He was taken to the Deschutes County Jail and lodged on multiple charges.
