PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A Portland restaurant was set on fire in a case investigators believe could involve a burglary and a hate crime.
An officer patrolling northeast Portland's Boise neighborhood smelled smoke in the area at 5:47 a.m. Wednesday and tracked it to Mack & Dub's Excellent Chicken & Waffles restaurant at 3601 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Firefighters responded and put out the fire.
Police said the preliminary investigation shows that the business was burglarized and that someone set the fire. Officers also discovered graffiti that could be part of a hate crime.
