Man found dead near Highway 99E

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

The man who was found in a ditch near a Salem highway was not the victim of a crime, according to Oregon State Police.

The man's body was found in a water-filled ditch near the shoulder of Highway 99E by Labish Garden Road Northeast on Thursday afternoon.

OSP detectives and the Marion County medical examiner responded to the scene.

Investigators have identified the man, but his name is being withheld until his family is notified.

A cause of death is not known. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
