BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

A Grammy winner and Battle Ground High School alum is returning home to help out the school's band program.

Esperanza Spalding is hosting a benefit concert Monday to raise money for the band program she participated in as a student.

Battle Ground's band is facing a $16,000 budget deficit.

The band consistently places near the top of local competitions and has also received national attention.

The 2011 Grammy award winner for best new artist even came out of the program, and that's why Spalding is stepping up to help.

She is hosting a benefit concert at Crossroads Community Church, along with a VIP dinner at Mill Creek Pub.
