A man was hit by a car while the driver was playing with his iPod, according to Keizer police.
Investigators said Kevin Ives, 55, was hit at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and Clearview Avenue at 10 p.m. Thursday.
Police said Astin Trotter hit Ives with his car traveling around 40 mph. Trotter told police his windows were foggy due to the cold weather so he had limited visibility. Investigators said he also admitted to playing with his iPod.
Trotter told police he looked up and saw the man in the roadway, but didn't have time to stop.
Trotter immediately stopped after the collision to check on Ives. A witness called 911 to report the crash.
Ives suffered significant, but not life-threatening injuries, according to police. He was taken to the hospital.
Trotter was cited and released from the scene.
