Woodland teen killed in crash near Battle Ground

BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

A head-on collision near Battle Ground Friday afternoon killed a 17-year-old Woodland girl and injured two other people.

The Washington State Patrol said a Toyota Corolla being driven by Ryan Matison, 20, of Battle Ground failed to stop at a flashing stop sign and was hit by a truck being driven by Luke Merriman, 23, of Battle Ground.

The accident occurred at the intersection of SR 502 and Northeast 29th Avenue about 2:40 p.m.

Police say speeding was a factor in the crash and charges are pending against Matison. The 17-year-old girl who died has not been identified.
