VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Suspects are now in police custody following an action-packed half-hour Sunday morning that involved two robberies, a stolen vehicle and an interstate police chase.

At about 7:45 a.m. Vancouver Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Subway sandwich shop at 1125 SE 163rd Avenue.  An employee reported that a male suspect wearing a black bandana came in, implied a weapon and demanded money.

After the employee emptied the cash register for the thief, the suspect grabbed a bag of chips and fled the store. He reportedly took off in a blue Honda Civic.

Less than ten minutes later, another robbery was reported nearby at a Chevron gas station, located at 16406 SE 26th Street.  An employee there described the suspect and a car with a similar description.

A police officer responding to the second robbery spotted the suspect vehicle heading westbound on Mill Plain and began to pursue it when it fled.

An ensuing chase led police to I-205 southbound where speeds reached as high as 90 miles per hour.

Once the Honda crossed the Columbia River into Oregon, Portland Police took over the pursuit.

The car exited on Airport Way and continued to be chased on city streets until it came to a stop adjacent to the intersection of Northeast 148th and Halsey.

Two adult male suspects were arrested at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.

A Vancouver Police spokesman says it was determined that the blue Honda used in the robberies had been stolen as well.

Pending charges are still being assessed.
