PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
"The Honey Pot Bakery" food cart was broken into over Thanksgiving weekend, and now the community is rallying around the cart.
All the cash in the food cart's money box was stolen sometime at the food cart pod located at Southeast 43rd Avenue and Belmont Street.
Owner Mary Sheridan said she usually doesn't leave cash inside her food cart. On Saturday morning, she was reminded why.
Sheridan said she wrote a letter to the thief and posted it on her food cart and online after she called police.
That's when people started coming to her food cart and buying up her pies. Some even gave her money expecting nothing in return.
Sheridan said she has nearly the whole amount back, and said any extra money she receives will be paid forward in some way.
