PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Oregon State Police have identified the man hit and killed by a car on Southeast 82nd Avenue Thanksgiving night.
Investigators said Margarito Diaz Gutierrez, 29, of Portland, was trying to cross the street between Boyer Road and Causey Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. when he was hit by a pickup.
Gutierrez died after arriving at the hospital.
Troopers said Gutierrez failed to use a crosswalk in heavy traffic in the dark while wearing dark clothing. Investigators said alcohol use by Gutierrez is also a possible factor.
Police said the driver, Keith Erdmann, 68, is cooperating with the investigation and has not been cited.
