Portland Police have arrested a young man for allegedly vandalizing several vehicles in the East Buckman neighborhood.
Robert Bradford, 24, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a criminal mischief charge. More charges could be filed against him as the case moves forward, investigators said.
Investigators believe Bradford slashed tires on several vehicles parked in the area of Southeast Morrison and Southeast 18th. FOX 12 crews counted about a dozen vehicles that were vandalized, including a Century Link van and pick-up truck that were parked behind a chain link fence.
One of the victims told FOX 12 that he came home from work at around 8:30 p.m. Monday and heard an unusual sound coming from outside. He now believes the sound was his tires being popped.
When the victim went outside, he saw a man break off his side mirror and use it to smash his windshield, he said. The victim then called police.
Officers got to the scene within minutes because of that quick call to 911, investigators said. They placed Bradford under arrest.
"As soon as the police showed up, I pointed 'Hey, he's over there!" said Gordon Androschuk, who's Dodge Durango was vandalized. "They put him in the squad car about five minutes after that."
Bradford used a knife to slash the tires, police said.
Portland Police encourage the vandalism victims to file a report by calling the non-emergency line at (503) 823-3333 and reference the key case, 12-103475.
Officers left business cards on some damaged cars that were parked in the area of the vandalism.
