NEWPORT, OR (KPTV) -

A commercial truck driver was cited by Oregon State Police following an investigation into Tuesday morning's crash, in which the truck's driver lost control before colliding into a guardrail and overturning down an embankment along Highway 101 north of Newport.

Investigators said a Freightliner truck pulling a semi-trailer driven by 45-year-old Theo Kohlasch from Portland was southbound on Highway 101 near milepost 130 negotiating a curve when she lost control.

The truck drove into a guardrail, went down a steep embankment and overturned onto its top.

Kohlasch was able to get out of the overturned truck. She was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was later cited by OSP for careless driving.

Northwest Firefighters Environmental responded to the scene to handle a diesel spill while the highway was closed periodically during the day for vehicle removal and scene cleanup.
