PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An armed robbery at a deli in downtown Portland led Portland State University staff to warn students about the threat of an armed suspect near campus.

A Portland police spokesman said a man entered the Paradise Deli and Grocery store at 1533 S.W. 12th Ave. shortly after 1 p.m. He shoved a customer out of the way and, while holding a handgun, demanded money from the store clerk.

After he took an undisclosed amount of money, the man left the store and was last seen on foot heading east on Clay Street.

Several officers checked the area, but didn't locate anyone matching the suspect's description.

Police describe him as white, 19 to 25 years old, 5'9" and 160 pounds. He has dark hair and wore dark-rimmed black sunglasses, a white or gray hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call 503-823-0405.
