ASTORIA, OR (KPTV) -

The Clatsop County Drug Task Force has arrested a man accused of selling sexually-explicit pictures and videos of children.

Michael Loren Wangen is charged with Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the first degree. Officers arrested him on Monday at his home in Astoria, located on 29th Street.

The investigation began when detectives learned Wangen was selling prescription pills and child pornography from his home. Detectives were granted a search warrant after purchasing more than 700 sexually-explicit images and videos from Wangen involving children.

Investigators seized several computers, hundreds of CDs and video. Many of the pictures feature children as young as 4 years old, engaged in sexually-explicit activity with adults and other children.

Wangen is a volunteer at the Astor Street Opry House and is also involved with the Junior Shanghaied in Astoria program.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about Wangen and his criminal activities to contact detectives.
