BLAINE, WA (AP) -
1 of the three remaining fugitives in a
string of ecoterrorism fires set in Oregon, Colorado and California has
surrendered to authorities.
The U.S. attorney's office
in Portland, Ore., said Thursday that 39-year-old Rebecca Jeanette Rubin
turned herself in to the FBI at the Canadian border in Blaine, Wash.
Rubin has been sought as
part of a group based in Eugene, Ore., known as The Family, on charges
she took part in setting fires at the Vail ski resort in Colorado, a
timber company office in Oregon, and wild horse corrals in Oregon and
Northern California. The group was considered part of the Earth
Liberation Front.
Ten others pleaded guilty in 2007 to conspiracy and arson and were sentenced to prison.
Two others remain at large.
