Accused drunk driver also faces weapon, drug charges
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Police got more than they bargained for when they pulled over the car of a southeast Portland man who wound up being arrested for DUII Saturday night.
Officers responded to a report of a gunshot heard in the area of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard at 9:36 p.m. Arriving police spotted a 2000 Cadillac Sedan DeVille barreling northbound on 82nd.
Once the car was pulled it was discovered that the Cadillac's driver, identified as Tyler Kahnert, 29, was driving with a suspended license and without insurance.
Police also found an open alcohol container in the car. Upon searching further they found a gun tucked under the driver's seat, as well as a spent shell casing, a baggie of marijuana and drug distribution paraphernalia.
Kahnert was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and charged with DUII, reckless driving, carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, and delivery of marijuana.
