A street fight at the food carts in downtown Portland led police to make several arrests Monday afternoon.

Officers said they first responded to the food carts at Southwest Stark and Second Avenue at 3:48 p.m. after getting a report of the disturbance.

While police were en route, they received more information that other people were either armed with various weapons or threatening to arm themselves with weapons.

The victim, 31-year-old Amir Amani, operates the food cart "Persian Plate" and was upset with this group of people after a neighboring food cart had a gas line cut earlier today.

Amani, along with "Nikki and Lefty's" owner, Lefty, said the group has robbed them before, vandalized their carts, and because of that they decided to get police involved.

Once the group found out they were filing a report with police, that's when the victim's said they approached them looking for a fight.

"They said we're a bunch of snitches and snitches get stitches, and we're gonna die," said Lefty.

"There was 15 to 20 of them, and they threw skateboards at us, backpacks and then pulled out knives," said Amani.

Amani says they were able to fight off the group with help from other food cart owners, using trash cans and swinging batons.

"They spit on us  and told us now we have HIV.  One guy was bleeding and trying to throw his blood on us," said Lefty.

When police arrived they were able to arrest six people. Those arrested include:

18-year-old Tatiana Dawn Gutierrez

21-year-old Mathew Allen Juniper

21-year-old James Paine

23-year-old Matthew Koontz

25-year-old Samuel Gene Hambrick

19-year-old Zachary Lee Lloyd

Charges in this case may include Assault in the Fourth Degree, Menacing, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.

A pocket knife was recovered from the scene.

Lefty sustained scratches to his face, Amani escaped the fight uninjured.
