Child sex crimes suspect to spend three years in prison

Posted: Updated:

A Vancouver man will spend more than three years behind bars after pleading guilty to attempted child molestation.

An investigation of Joseph Schesso, 35, began in 2009. Detectives said images of children being sexually exploited were obtained from an IP address that returned to Schesso's then-home in Vancouver.

A search warrant was served at the home in June 2010 and investigators said they found several images that were later confirmed to be depictions of Schesso sexually abusing an underage girl.

In all, detectives said they found more than 3,100 images of at least one girl in a sexual display, along with more than 500 video files of child pornography on his computer.

Schesso was sentenced to 40 months in prison on Nov. 28.

Once released, Schesso will be required to register as a sex offender and will be supervised for the remainder of his life through the Washington State Department of Corrections.
