10-year-old Fairview girl drowned, medical examiner says

Posted: Updated:

The state medical examiner's office says a 10-year-old girl who died at a Fairview apartment complex drowned, and her death is being considered a homicide.

Miranda Crockett died at the Kings Garden Apartments on Northeast 207th Avenue on Nov. 24.

Police arrested Chandra Rose, the girlfriend of Miranda Crockett's father, in connection with the crime, but she is facing charges of criminal mistreatment and reckless endangerment, not murder.

Last month, Miranda's father, Daniel Crockett, wrote an email to FOX 12, saying Rose was at the apartment with her children that day.

"I know there was an altercation. I know she was soaking wet. I know she drowned," he wrote. "I know Chandra would likely have been asleep that early in the day, and that the kids liked to capitalize on her being hard of hearing. That's all I know for certain. I still haven't seen Miranda since I gave her a hug and kiss goodbye on Friday."

Police have not announced any additional arrests in Miranda Crockett's death.
