Washington state has revoked the license of a company linked to 36 deaths and 541 illnesses across the country associated with medications contaminated by fungal meningitis.
No illnesses or deaths were reported in Washington, but New England Compounding Center (NECC) will no longer be able to ship products to the state. The company recalled its entire product line Oct. 6 after reports of deaths from fungal meningitis were reported after the use of their medications.
Some of those recalled medications were shipped to Washington, but the state Board of Pharmacy and local public health agencies directed all medical facilities to notify patients who may have received them.
The FDA and CDC are continuing an investigation into NECC.
