PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The owners of the Thunderbird Hotel appeared to be resuming demolition Wednesday at the property that was ravaged by a five-alarm fire three months ago.
Flames engulfed the vacant Hayden Island hotel Sept. 2, causing more than $5 million in damage.
Portland fire officials never determined what caused the fire. They ended their on-site investigation at the property Sept. 8, but they consider the blaze still under investigation. They are waiting for test results and other forensic findings on evidence that was submitted to lab workers.
Fire investigators are also compiling transcripts of all witness interviews on the case to see if any information helps shed light on the cause of the fire.
