Police are searching for a Portland woman who disappeared after walking away from her treatment facility in The Dalles.

Police in The Dalles said Carolyn Rice, 57, is mentally ill and left the area on Nov. 27. Police believe she is in the Portland area, where she has lived most of her life.

Her family said she doesn't have any money or food. Rice has struggled with schizophrenia most of her life.

Investigators said she is very religious and may seek refuge in Catholic churches. Her family said she tends to befriend the elderly or mentally ill.

Rice is not considered a risk to others, but her family is extremely worried about her own health.

She is 5'5" tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown hair, usually pulled back in a pony tail.

If you see her or know where she is, call 911 and reference missing person case number 12-2198.
