Police: DUII driver slammed into parked patrol car

BROOKINGS, OR (KPTV) -

Police said a driver with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit slammed into a parked patrol car near Brookings.

It happened at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday on the north shoulder of Highway 101 near Milepost 358.

Police said a pickup driven by Sean Russell, 19, of Brookings was in the right lane traveling 63 mph when it drifted onto the shoulder and hit the Oregon State Police car.

Senior Trooper Jeff Johnson was inside and was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital with minor injuries. He was treated and released.

Russell was not hurt. He was arrested for DUII and reckless driving. Investigators said he had a blood-alcohol level of .18 percent.
