PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland police said a single car crash on Northeast Columbia Boulevard at 33rd Avenue resulted in the serious injury of the car's driver early Friday morning.
Investigators said the driver, a 34-year-old female, was traveling eastbound on Northeast Columbia Boulevard without headlights on in the center turn lane.
The car then struck the Northeast 33rd Avenue overpass abutment and spun into a fence. The driver was ejected and trapped under the car until witnesses helped to free her prior to police arrival.
Investigators from the Traffic Division's Major Crash Team have determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
This case is still under investigation and the name of the driver will be released upon family notification.
Columbia Boulevard was closed for a few hours as investigators processed the crash scene.
