Portland front and center on Sunday's "Simpsons"

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Simpsons will be taking on a decidedly Portland vibe on Sunday.

The show has always been linked to the Rose City. Series creator Matt Groening is from Portland and all you have to do is look at local street signs to see names familiar to fans of the show, such as Flanders, Quimby, Terwilliger and Lovejoy.

This time, however, Portland will be front and center.

Sunday's episode is called, The Day the Earth Stood Cool. It features new neighbors from Portland moving in next to the Simpsons.

Homer wants to develop a cool, younger image, so he starts hanging out with his hip new neighbors from the Rose City. In the end, the trendy styles and parenting methods might be a little too pretentious for the Simpson family.

The voices of the neighbors also have a connection to Portland. They are "Portlandia" stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.

The episode airs at 8 p.m. Sunday on Fox 12.
